Every summer as I was growing up, my grandparents and I took a two-week vacation to Hawaii. This all started in 1991 - there was a solar eclipse vi sable from the golf course at the Hilton Waikoloa on the Big Island of Hawaii. My father, being an avid photographer and amateur astronomer - wouldn't be caught dead missing that opportunity! My grandparents and I came along for the ride, and loved every minute of it!
So it goes, my grandparents and I went back almost every summer after that until my sophomore year of high school.
And... we're going back this year!
This time, the group will be comprised of me, my grandfather, and my boyfriend - who's never been to Hawaii, and I can't wait to share this with him!
We'll be going in January this time around, which will also be a new experience as we always traveled in July. I'm looking forward to seeing the humpback whales (hopefully) which should be fantastical and amazing!
I plan on both blogging and tweeting (via @libraryfrog) this trip and it's lead-up, so fasten your seat belts, and bring your seats to their up-right and locked positions - we're taking off in 60 days!
