Webcams!

This is a webcam located at the Hilton Waikola Village which is our hotel on the Big Island of Hawai'i.

And, I'm still trying to find a good one for Kaua'i... This is the best I can do so far: it's from Blue Hawaii Helicopter Tours.

New Plans for Kaua'i

Forget everything I've said about the Sheraton Kaua'i... We're now going to stay at the Grand Hyatt Kaua'i instead. Long story short, this hotel will accommodate all of our traveling party better then our previous choice. Here's the site for the new hotel, go check it out!

Personalized Views of Paradise

So I was just killing time at work looking at the website for the hotel we're staying in in Kaua'i and they have a live webcam! Apparently you get about five minutes to control the camera and then it goes to the next person in line. And, even better - you can take snap shots with it! So - enjoy!

Here's a link to the webcam if you want to play around with it!

Updates abound!

Yesterday afternoon Baba, Doug, Mom and I met with Brenda at Pyramid Travel to talk about our plans and get the ball rolling on our booking. The dates for the trip have been nailed down (January 8, 2011 - January 18, 2011) which will give us FIVE NIGHTS on each island! We've decided to go to the Big Island and (of course) stay at the Hilton Waikoloa again. Then, for the second five days - we'll be in Kaua'i. Remember - Spouting Horn, Po'ipu Beach, and all the lovely local crafts? Yup, we're going to that Kaua'i!

Prior to our meeting, we had not chosen a hotel on Kaua'i because none of us (namely Baba and I) could remember where we stayed the last time we were there! Brenda looked back in our file and it turns out we haven't been to Kaua'i since 1998! What, you remember what you were doing 13 years ago!? :) So, we asked for recommendations from Brenda, and she suggested the Sheraton Kaua'i - which looks fantastic! There are a lot of activities every day right in the hotel which I hope to check out.

Now, we're just nailing down exact flights and boring stuff like that. But, I'm starting to research Whale Watching Tours again (like this one Andrew and I went on last year) and a good luau - since we clearly won't be going to the PCC this year... 86 days to go!

Froggy Goes A-Traveling... Again!

So, yesterday afternoon I was on the phone with Baba, and he says "I was thinking of going to Hawai'i in January..." Which means... I'm going to Hawai'i again! I haven't had a real break from work or school (or wedding planning, now too!) since our trip to the Big Island and O'ahu at the begining of 2010, so this will be a much needed pause in the year's occupations, as it were.

The basic plans at this time are very loose of course - we only decided to go yesterday afterall! But, with January only about two and half months away, it's going to go very quickly! We'll probably shoot for about a 10 day trip again, this time visiting the Big Island and Kaua'i. I'm really looking forward to that part, since Kaua'i was only on our itinerary for three or four of our ten trips to the islands. Unfortunately, with Andrew's plan to take the Series 65 within the next few months and then start his own practice, he won't be able to join us, but it sounds like Baba's planning on "bringing everyone along" so it should be a fun trip!

I'll be using this blog as a vechicle for my travel writings again, so keep tuned for more updates!
